Giving you the care you need and deserve.
Counselling
What Is Counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy used to address and work through emotional toll caused by experiences and situations in a persons life. It is normally a long-term process that sees a collaborative effort between counsellor and client to set healthy expectations for the client whilst also uncovering and developing strategies for positive change in the clients life.
My Approach To Counselling
My approach to counselling enables you to work through your experiences in a non-biased and empathetic way. We would be working in a warm, relaxed and confidential space in order to best explore your challenges. With experience working in an integrative way, I can draw on a wide range of therapeutic approaches in order to best suit you and your situation. I believe within a therapeutic relationship, two of the most important factors is to feel trust and safety so we can openly explore your difficulties together. By providing a safe space for individuals to talk, play and be heard - hopefully people can reconnect to their higher wisdom, inner strength and resilience helping them to reach their true potential.
Specific Areas Of Support
In my years as a counsellor, I have met many different people with a great range of different situations. If you decide that I am the counsellor for you, our first session will always start off with an initial consultation. In this, we will discuss a therapeutic contract (a set of rules to keep you and I safe) and the best way to move forward together.
This can sometimes seem slightly overwhelming to some people, however, there is no need to worry. If at any point you have any questions, please ask and I will answer them to the best of my ability.
Once we have decided how to go forward, I will help you to work through your situation using a combination of different techniques and therapeutic schools of thought.
The two main types of therapy we would use are Person Centered Therapy and CBT.
Something I endevour to ensure is that every service I provide is as inclusive as possible.
I am a LGBTQIA+ ally and committed to queer power and liberation.
For those that would prefer working face-to-face, the counselling room can be made accessible with the use of a mobile ramp.
The counselling service is available to all ages from 8 years old and above.
Sometimes things get in the way of being able to make it to the arranged appointment which is why I try to offer flexible appointment times.
I do not believe that I am an expert in your situation, but I hold your best interests at the centre of my work.
